10 August 2024

An explosion occurred on a YangMing container vessel identified as YM Mobility while berthed at the Ningbo Beilun Phase 3 Terminal, part of Ningbo Zhoushan Port in Zhejiang Province.

YangMing indicated that preliminary findings suggest the explosion occurred in a container loaded with dangerous goods aboard the vessel. According to the shipper’s declaration, the container was a reefer used as a substitute for a dry container without requiring a power connection. Fire control measures were immediately taken - the situation is under control, and all crew members have safely evacuated. The cause of the incident is still under investigation. Huan Ming (Shanghai) International Shipping Agency Co Ltd, a subsidiary of YangMing Group, is actively coordinating with the authorities to manage the situation.

YM Mobility is currently deployed to the Far East to/from the Middle East service CGX. YangMing will provide updates on the vessel’s status, cargo transshipment, and schedule adjustments as further information becomes available.

We have confirmed that there are no Toll-managed shipments on YM mobility, and no Toll-managed shipments are scheduled to enter the Beilun Phase 3 Terminal this week.
